Umberto II (1904-1982) was the first king of Europa, reigning from 1964-1982. He is considered the head of the Royal Family of Europa.
Biography[]
Umberto was born at Racconigi, in Piedmont. He was the third child, and the only son, of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy and Princess Elena of Montenegro. He served as the last King of Italy for slightly over a month, from 9 May 1946 to 12 June 1946. He renounced the title of King of Albania, which was held by his father after the Italian invasion of the country.
Umberto was married in Rome on 8 January 1930 to Queen Marie José (1906–2001). His children included: Princess Maria Pia (born 1934), Princess Antonia (born 1937) and King Pietro I (born 1951).
