Albertson is a RTS Koiwai station on the Green and Orange Lines in northwest Koiwai. It opened on the Green Line on November 29, 2000, as one of the initial stations in the system. Orange Line service started here on December 21, 2009. The station, which serves the neighborhood of Vernon Square, is one of the busiest in the system.

Albertson has one entrance, on Albertson Street Northwest between Takeda Downs Avenue and Finnley Avenue. The station's entrance escalators are 88 feet long. There is a single island platform, which serves two tracks, Track A1 southbound towards Southern Avenue or Landover, and Track A2 northbound towards Cenmilcom or Winter Park Transit Mall.

The first six lines of Sara Teasdale's There Will Come Soft Rains are engraved in the concrete of the mezzanine of the station:

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,

And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pool singing at night,

And wild plum trees in tremulous white;

Robins will wear their feathery fire,

Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

Some people question the choice of poem, as the poem imagines Earth after humanity becomes extinct because of a global war. The Capital Planning Committee defends their choice by stating that the elements of the poem related to the war have been omitted.
