The Blue Line of the RTS Koiwai consists of 13 rapid transit stations from Summerfield to Medical Center. It has stations in the City of Koiwai and Randgriz County, Federal District, and travels between downtown and the national government center at Ivalice Square. This was the third line for which construction began. It shares four stations with the Purple Line, and one, Federal Center NE, with the Red Line.

History[]

Construction on the Blue Line began in Phase II of the RTS Koiwai, and was completed in Phase IV. When the Blue Line was first opened, it shared tracks with the Yellow Line from KDOT/Metro Center-Dalmasca to Elysian Fields, then switching onto its current route onto Elysian Fields Avenue before Capital Park station. In Phase III, the Blue Line was realigned to a new terminus at Summerfield station via Ivalice Boulevard. The Blue Line now utilizes a new platform at Elysian Fields station, now bisecting the Yellow Line. On December 21, 2009, Phase IV was opened, extending the Blue Line to its current terminus at Federal Center NE. In Phase V-B, opened April 30, 2010, it was extended to Medical Center in Randgriz County, Federal District.

Route[]

The southwestern terminus of the Blue Line is Summerfield station. After leaving Summerfield, the Blue Line follows the Ivalice Boulevard subway to Central Plaza, where it turns north onto the Elysian Fields Subway, continuing along Elysian Fields Avenue until just west of Federal Center NE, where it turns east again and merges with the Red Line. After Federal Center NE, it diverges from the Red Line, and turns southeast for stops at the SBC Television Center and the Milton J. Green Koiwai Convention Center, terminating at the National Health and Life Sciences Center in Randgriz County.

List of Stations[]
