House of Parliament

The Parliament of Wessex, officially, Her Majesties Parliament, is the unicameral legislative body of the Kingdom of Wessex, occasionly known as the House of Parliament, the parliament meets at the Wessex House of Parliament, Park Street, Bristol.

The Parliament of Wessex has 124 members, of which 119 are elected every 4 years, while up to 5 can be appointed by the Prime Minister. Another 7 are held by independents. Each of the 119 elected members represent a constituency, and represent the party that had won the respective local election.

The Parliament is lead by the Speaker of Parliament, who is the overall leader and is directly elected by the sitting members of parliament. The speaker is given the constitutional power to discipline members who break the rules of Parliament.

With Wessex's current system of Direct Democracy, any citizen, or group of citizens, may challenge laws or policies set by the Parliament, by a civil referendum, which, after gathering 1000 sigantures, must be re-evaluated by parliament. If the law or policy is passed again, the system can pass again until the law or policy is scrapped.
