East Austria, officially the People’s Republic of Austria, was a former Soviet satellite State in Central Europe. It was formed after talks broke down between the western powers of the United States, France, and the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union on the creation of a United Neutral Austrian State.
East Austria was better off then most countries in the eastern bloc, and, along with east Germany, the wealthiest country of the eastern bloc nations.
Party Leader and President of East Austria, began what would become to be known as “Degermanization”, which lasted until the very last days of the people’s republic, and caused major cultural differences in post-cold war United Austria.
