Elias Mowindu (b. 1934) was Prime Minister of Linari from 2002 to 2006. He was appointed by the new King, Kwati II, after his predecessor Jean Zarakame was killed in the military coup attempt of 2002. A member of the Alliance for Democracy, Mowindu was seen by some as a puppet for Georgeland and European interests in Linari. On May 27, 2006, Mowindu was dismissed by King Kwati II following violence and mass protests in the streets of the capital. The violence was provoked by increased rebel activity and government corruption. He was replaced by Milton Swambe.
