The Democratic Republic of Ely is a nation in North Anglia.
History[]
The Democratic Republic of Ely was formed from lands taken from Norwich when it lost a war to Leicester in 1890, along with several other nations such as Cambridge, Canterbury, Ipswich and Chichester. The nation was originally a kingdom, but in the Revolutions of 1919 it became a liberal democracy. In 1925, Ely sponsored a coup in neighboring Cambridge, a communist dictatorship, with the aid of Oxford and won. A democratic regime was established in Cambridge. Ely won the Great Anglian War (1979-1986) and acquired significant lands from London; the resistance, however, was so strong that the region was decided to be allowed to cascade into chaos, eventually resulting in its independence as Suffolk.
