The Alemnii, also called the Amati in Amarthias, are a near-human race of beings with immense spiritual power. In ages past, they controlled all of Estreoth. Following the Great Cataclysm, the Alemnii either interbred with their human slaves or confined themselves to a lifetime of hibernation to avoid the inevitable death of their race.
Etymology[]
The word Alemnii isn't from any known language. Scholars believe that the word dates back from before the Ancient Kingdom to a human language that has since gone extinct. The word itself doesn't have any special connotation, it simply refers to the "Ones who came before" in common usage. The Alemnii themselves, who adopted the word, used it as the name of their race.
History[]
It is unknown where the Alemnii come from, even amongst the Alemnii themselves there were multiple theories. Alemnii religion decreed that they were from another world. Some believed that they had evolved from humans. The truth is unknown to the people of Estreoth and to the Alemnii themselves. In reality, the Alemnii were descended from humanity in another dimension (Estreoth, if you recall, is part of a massive multi-verse). They arrived in Estreoth following the near-destruction of their world, which had previously been a paradise. Following the Great Cataclysm, only a handful of Alemnii survived. Those that did were forced to stay in a near-death state to preserve their life force. The demons of Infernus are descents of humans and Alemnii following centuries of inbreeding.
Physical Traits[]
The Alemnii were incredibly powerful spiritually. Today the few survivors are worshiped as gods. Although their physical and spiritual strength varied greatly, the average Alemnii was said to be able to run at seventy miles an hour for great distances, move at speeds in excess of two hundred for short distances, lift over a ton, and strike objects with enough force to crack solid granite. Exceptional individuals, such as Avarild were said to be able to fly, throw fire with their hands, and fell entire forests with a flick of their finger.
Alzeschar, was said to be the strongest of the Alemnii to ever live, both in part to his noble lineage and his copious consumption of raw magical energy from the heart of Estreoth. It was said, in a single blow, he could topple a mountain.
