The Yarphese Civil War is a conflict of dozens of rivaling factions fighting for power in the former Thai, Burmese, and Malay Zones of Yarphei. It is one of the largest conflicts of 2011, and is extremely unstable politically.

March[]

  • 10: Vietnamese former Muslim and VLA member Trầng Nhu speaks out openly against Trầng Chúp Long in a rally in Càmau, wearing a traditional Muslim headdress, against the Yarphese cultural policy. She is subsequently arrested.
  • 15: Trầng Nhu confesses to having opposed to the Republic on Yarphese television, inciting anger among former Muslims in Yarphei. She is detained in a prison camp in the Australian Kimberley.
  • 17: Cao Yăng Sêu gives a speech in Kuala Lumpur on his economic plans, receiving violent and profane gestures from the audience, as well as cries against the VLA.
  • 18: Yarphese stock prices fall as many Yarphese and international spectators see impending conflict, based on news reports.
  • 30: The Rice Day Protests break out throughout southern Yarphei, calling for various freedoms, including freedom of religion.

April[]

  • 1: The Democratic Republic of Pattani in the city of Khota Bahru declares independence, effectively chasing the VLA out of the provincial government.
  • 3: Similar Islamic rebellions in nearby towns set of a chain of expansion into newly Islamic territories.
  • 8: Najib Razak declares himself President of the Democratic Republic of Pattani.
  • 10: Islamic extremists aligned to the Democratic Republic of Pattani are publicly arrested for attacking a government building in Singapore.
  • 12: A group of Thais on the island of Ko Chang draft the independence of the White Elephant Republic.
  • 14: The Indochinese government has expressed its official concern. It fears the violence might spill over to Northern Cambodia.
