Geography of Koneth

Koneth has several major continents.

• Inhabited Region: The Inhabited Region of Koneth is a cluster of 4 continents located near each other. It is actually only 3 continents, but a failed rift on one has created a deep valley which has filled with seawater separating it into two sections. There are numerous islands around the continents.
  • Far Eastern Continent (technically same continent as Eastern Continent)
  • Eastern Continent (technically same continent as Far Eastern Continent)
  • Northern Continent
  • Southern Continent
  • Major Seas
    • Middle Sea: Separates Eastern Continent from Northern and Southern Continents
    • Western Sea: Separates Northern and Southern Continents
    • Eastern Sea: Separates Eastern Continent from Far Eastern Continent
    • World Sea: The planet's sole ocean. Continents are too small and too clustered to divide the ocean into meaningful units.
• Uninhabited Regions: These areas are too far away from the source of humanity for humans to have immigrated.
  • Far Continent
    • The Far Continent is located on the opposite side of the globe from the cluster of continents making up the Inhabited Region. Until about 35 million years ago, this centered on the North Pole. It began migrating southwards at breakneck speeds (geologically speaking - i.e., around 18 cm/yr), and currently most of it is below the arctic circle. The far north is still covered in ice. Its migration southwards resulted in a general warming of the globe, and a gradual rise in sea level. During its polar period, it had almost no life except around the fringes. Most plant life on this continent is descended from seeds blown from other continents. Most of the animal life are former sea creatures who have adapted to life on land, mostly those animals that had existed on the fringe of the continent during the polar period.
  • Little Continent

The concept of plate techtonics, in a mytholigized form, was understood early on, due to the obvious fit of the continents of the Inhabited Region. Most explain it by some myth involving gods ripping the land apart.
