Haubei has a tropical all year around climate where the temperature is no lower that 64°F(18°C) and has rain all year long. It peak of rain is in June where it get 15 inches(398 millimeters) of rain. The summer months are also wet due to the typhoons that roll in. Temperatures also reach the 90's in May, June , July, and August.

Haubei Kantari International Airport is the only airport that serves Haubei. It is a 20 minute drive from the city core. and it is the hub for Air Ryukyu, Haubei Airways, and Tiger Airways. It had 79.9 million passengers in 2010.
