Kale is the first book of the Kitabu. It chronicles the early history of the world and the Waumini.

Chapter 1[]

1 Before everything there was nothing but WUMBA. 2 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the earth and the heavens. 3 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the waters, that fell to the earths. 4 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the plants, which drunk the waters, that fell to the earth. 5 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the herbivores, who eat the plants that drink the waters that fell to the earth. 6 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the carnivores, who eat the herbivores that eat the plants, 8 That drink the waters that fell to the earth. 9 WUMBA said, "Be," and created the man, who lived on the earth, drank the waters, 10 grew the plants, and ate the herbivores and carnivores. 11 WUMBA asked the man, "do you like the world?" 12 The man said, "yes, but I don't know how to live." 13 So WUMBA gave the man knowledge. 14 WUMBA asked the man, "do you love your knowledge?" 15 The man said, "yes, but I am lonely." 16 So WUMBA gave the man the woman. 17 WUMBA asked the man, "do you love your woman?" 18 The man said, "yes, but I tire from all the work I do." 19 So WUMBA gave the man and the woman children to assist them. 20 WUMBA asked the man, "do you love your children?" 21 The man said, "yes, but we still work." 22 WUMBA said, "do you think I shall give you more? 23 I have given you all of these things, and you still want more. Instead, I shall give you less. 24 I gave you knowledge, which you use all the time. Now you shall only use it sometimes. 25 I gave you a woman, who was inferior to you. Now she shall be your equal. 26 I gave you children, who you love. I shall curse them as I have cursed you. 27 And I shall now give you all names.
