The United States of London were a republic in England in the 18th, 19th, 20th and early 21st centuries.

History[]

The United States of London were founded in a revolution in 1756.  At this date, the Emperor of England was overthrown and a republic installed.  Unlike many other republics circa this time, London did not end up becoming a dictatorship; rather, it stayed a republic.  London reached its greatest power in the 19th century, when it was one of the most powerful states on the continent of Great Britain.  In the later 20th century it entered a slow decline, culminating in its defeat in the Great Anglian War in 1986.

Londoners consider their lowest point to have been the Westminster Rebellion of 1999-2000.  At this point, the state of Westminster rebelled from London.  Although there was little to no public support, it took 4 months to suppress the rebellion.  Since then, London has largely reversed its isolationist policy and played a key role in the November Mess of 2001.  In 2004, London merged with Essex to form the Kingdom of England.
